Free Audio Volume Changer: Boost or Decrease Volume
Have you ever recorded a voice memo, podcast, or downloaded a song only to realize the volume is way too quiet? Our free Online Volume Changer is built exactly for that problem. Instead of using complex audio editing software, you can boost your audio directly in your browser with just a few clicks.
How Does the Volume Booster Work?
Our tool uses the standard Web Audio API's GainNode to mathematically multiply the amplitude of the sound waves in your file.
- Boosting Volume (Up to 500%): By dragging the slider past 100%, you amplify the audio signal. For example, 200% makes the audio twice as loud. This is perfect for quiet microphone recordings.
- Decreasing Volume (Below 100%): If a track is too aggressive or you want to use it as background music beneath a voiceover, you can lower the gain. Setting it to 50% cuts the loudness in half.
What is Audio Clipping?
While our tool allows you to boost audio up to 500%, you should be careful with naturally loud songs. If you increase the volume too much, the sound waves will hit the maximum digital limit and get "chopped off" at the peaks. This is called clipping, and it sounds like harsh, crackling distortion. Always use the "Preview Volume" button to listen to the adjusted audio before downloading it.
